The first distillery in Hungary, which produces exclusively handcrafted gin is located on the outskirts of Újpest, in an industrial estate. This is where Opera Gin Budapest, Hungary’s new premium drink, is made.

One of the most important aspects for the first Hungarian Gin Manufactory was to find a high-quality supply source of the main spice of the gin, the juniper berry. In designing their own recipe, they resorted to special spices such as angelica root, cinnamon, cloves, or coriander. They also wanted to smuggle in a taste that refers to us, Hungarians, in a restrained and elegant way. That’s how their choice fell to poppy seed, which is a curiosity considering gin components.

We are talking about an extremely elegant, balanced, refined drink. The scent is already captivating, the freshness of lemongrass and grapefruit peel, the flattering scent of lavender, and the profound scent of juniper. Poppy makes all this sip round and silky.
